Nowadays, many daily tasks can be accomplished without us meeting other face to face. Generally, I tend to believe it leads to many desirable resuits.
It is evident that fulfilling some tasks over modern technologies such as the Internet and other computer networks is highly efficient. In the past, if people had the need to do shopping, they had to go to the shopping mall; but today, all can be done with the click of a mouse and the goods will be delivered home, even at a lower price. Also, we used to need to go to the bank and wait for a desperately long line if we wanted to make a transaction from one bank account to another: instead, now we may comfortably make use of the self-service banking at home. Actually, almost all banks and financial organizations are well-connected to the Internet, which promotes the development of international trade and world economy dramatically.
Thus, obviously, the efficiency of life has been improved significantly due to the technological advances.
However, that is not to say that lack of face-to-face communication brings about no problems. One of the biggest concerns is safety. With the increasing virus threats and well-trained hackers, online deals are well exposed to all kinds of risks and losses, for example, the wide-spread problem of identity theft. Therefore, when making the most of the desirable changes brought about by technology, we should be aware of its potential downsides and find a way to minimize the negative impacts.
Overall, there are both favorable and unfavorable effects on individuals and society if everyday tasks are performed without the need of seeing each other. But I am quite optimistic about its future, and I think people and countries alike will benefit from it on a new level soon.

We live in an age of electronic communication, and the Internet does help us in a lot of ways. Yet the fact that we have computers and smartphones readily available does not mean that we do not need face-to-face communication any more.

The technology connects us to our online suppliers, colleagues in the workplace, families and friends from all over the globe for just a small fraction of the cost required of an offline meeting.

That being said, scientific evidence is mounting that the advent of digital technology is having a detrimental effect on interpersonal relationships. Everything from body language and facial expressions to attentiveness and engagement can indicate different thoughts and feelings—each of which can only be truly observed through face-to-face communication. So, despite the clear upsides of digital communication, there are circumstances under which there is no substitute for face-to-face communication. Meanwhile, the complete dependence on the Internet for communication may result in the sense of alienation and depression which will keep us apart from the rest of the real world.

In such a digital age, which features the wide available of internet to individuals, users are able to deal with a bunch of daily tasks online, ranging from doing shopping, arranging and completing working projects as well as interacting with strangers and friends. In my view, this tendency is largely beneficial for people’s work and life.
To commence with, it is conceivable that telecommuting saves time for employees. Without spending time on the way to and from work, office workers have more disposable time and the flexible schedule, in which case, they could work the hours they wished and have a better rest. In addition, online communication enlarges the circle of friends. More specifically, social networking websites is deemed as an effective way to make connections with people with similar interests and goals. What’s more, long distance communication relieves couples or families from lovesickness and homesickness. Even though living thousands of miles away from hometown, they can stare at the faces of their beloved and listen to their voice.
In terms of online shopping, it has been thought as the indispensable part of modern life due to its convenience. Instead of going to malls, the only thing consumers have to do is viewing the high-definition pictures and click the button of payment, the commodities they choose would be delivered at home in several days or appointed time. This is especially useful for people working on a tight schedule or in times of inclement weather. Undeniably, customers can purchase goods all over the world; in consequence, there is no need for them to travel to foreign countries for some fancy dresses or handbags.
On the flip side, a lack of face-to-face contact does generate harmful effects, among which the most obvious is that the loss of interpersonal skills in reality. In fact, body language such as eye contact and gestures, and social psychology laid emphasis on in real way are invalid and ignored in virtual world, making people incompetent and unskilled in face-to-face situations.
In conclusion, although the dimension of communication would be diminished, I strongly contend that the increasing popularity of communication via internet benefits people from all walks of life.
