1. 強(qiáng)調(diào)句
It was only thirty years ago that the building industry felt confident enough to erect office blocks of steel and reinforced concrete that had more than a dozen floors.
The building industry felt confident enough to erect office blocks of steel and reinforced concrete that had more than a dozen floors only thirty years ago.
比如:Down came the “white only” notices in buses, hotels, trains, restaurants, sporting events, rest rooms and on park benches that once could be found everywhere throughout the South.
這句話把down放句首了,用了倒裝的結(jié)構(gòu),正常順序應(yīng)該是the “white only” notices came down in buses, hotels, trains, restaurants, sporting events, rest rooms and on park benches that once could be found everywhere throughout the South. ‘in buses, hotels, trains, restaurants, sporting events, rest rooms and on park benches’

China will build a nation-wide network within three to five years to monitor the impact of air pollution on health, a latest step to deal with a persistent smog crisis in big cities, an official said.
A total of 43 monitoring spots will be set up in 16 provinces and municipalities frequently engulfed by smog so as to facilitate research on air pollutants in different regions, the impact on the health of vulnerable groups and the study of related diseases, said Xu Dongqun, an official with the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
With funds allocated by the central government, the study will provide reference for preventive efforts to reduce the PM 2.5, Xu said.
Thick and hazardous smog have hit 17 provinces and municipalities with a population of 600 million this year. One of the major cities is Beijing, which has been shrouded in smog for several days during the ongoing seven-day national holiday.
China recently issued a 1.75 trillion-yuan (284.2 billion U.S. dollars) plan to tackle the worsening air, pledging to improve air quality within five years in order to decrease the number of heavily polluted days and improve the air in major city clusters.

Task description
You will be provided with a number of questions which you have to answer. Generally your answers must be in three words or fewer but confirm this with the instructions.
What is being tested is your ability to:
skim for general information
read for details
identify the focus of the question
understand paraphrase in the question
How to approach short answer questions
Step 1: Read the instructions carefully. Note that in the sample task you may use your own words but you may not use more than three words for each answer.
Step 2: Briefly read through all of the questions to get an idea of what information you will have to find in the text.
Step 3: Read the first question more carefully. Decide what information you will skim for. In this case you will skim for reference to Alexander Carlisle.
Step 4: Once you have found the relevant section of the reading text, look back at the question and decide what specific information you need to answer the question. In this case, you need to find what the owners thought was less important than Titanic's appearance.
Step 5: Read that part of the text more carefully to find the answer.
