那些基礎單詞，在備考GRE時才發(fā)現(xiàn)不會也不行

“備考GRE究竟需要多大的詞匯量?”

這是一個困擾初期備考同學的基本問題。各種論壇和機構會針對這個問題給出不同的數(shù)字，但這些數(shù)字大多數(shù)缺乏足夠的樣本和對GRE考察單詞的充分了解，因此都不具有說服力。在針對GRE的單詞備考時，“大三千”足夠同學們應付考試中出現(xiàn)的難詞和選項。

在理想的情況下，同學們開始背“3000”時應該已經(jīng)掌握四六級單詞以及托福的常考詞匯。但在實際課堂上，我們發(fā)現(xiàn)大多數(shù)同學都是四六級基本裸考，英語水平就停留在高考剛結(jié)束的狀態(tài)。所以同學們在備考初期時常常發(fā)現(xiàn)的問題是“這個詞不認識，大三千上面也沒有”?；谕瑢W們對于GRE常考的基礎詞匯掌握不牢的情況，我們編寫了“基礎填空24套”，就是為了填補同學們從“開始背3000”到“開始做GRE填空”之間的空白，同時幫助同學們掌

在基礎詞匯方面，同學們遇到的問題主要有兩個：

1)單詞根本不認識;

2)單詞很熟悉，但是不知道它的考法。

單詞根本不認識

1. 純名詞

由于GRE在考察詞匯時偏向考察“強詞(可以取反的單詞)”，而有反義詞的大多是形容詞和動詞，因此“3000”中收錄的形容詞和動詞居多，刪掉了一些不必要的純名詞，以減輕同學們的記憶負擔。

但是在具體做題中，不認識常見的純名詞確實會影響同學們的做題心情，因此我們把這些ETS?？嫉募兠~列在了“24套”中，比如：

? correspondence/missive/letter是ETS喜歡考到表示“通信，信件”的詞;

? avocation表示“業(yè)余愛好”;

? punk/ruffian是ETS喜歡考到表示“流氓惡棍”的詞;

? locale/setting 表示“舞臺場景”

? emblem/totem 表示“象征，代表”。

這些純名詞很少會出現(xiàn)在GRE考試的選項里，但是卻極有可能作為背景信息出現(xiàn)在題干當中。不認識這些詞，會導致同學們對題干的意思產(chǎn)生誤解，當然不能做對題。因此要刷“24套”，掌握GRE喜歡考察的純名詞。

2. 基礎的形容詞動詞

一些本該在同學們準備四六級考試時就掌握的單詞，由于同學們沒有及時掌握，備考GRE就變成了“還賬”的過程，比如：

? crabby表示“脾氣差的”;

? cooperative表示“合作的”;

? curative表示“治愈的”;

這些都是同學們大學英語課上應該掌握的單詞，我們也把這些詞列在了“24套”當中。

不知道單詞的考法義

除了單詞在字典解釋上的字面意思，很多單詞在GRE中考察的是功能義。同學們只知道一些基礎單詞的字面義，卻不知道它們的考法，自然也不能做對題。

在“3000”里面，我們給出了GRE級別詞匯的考法義，而基礎單詞的考法義，我們就列在了“24套”中，比如：

? complete，同學們只知道是“完全的”意思，卻不知道在GRE填空中它考察的意思是“詳盡徹底的”，?？嫉耐x詞是thorough/comprehensive/exhaustive;

? ready，同學們知道是“準備好的”意思，卻不知道readiness表示“樂意做某件事”，和alacrity考同義詞。

這些同學們只知道字面義而不知道考法義的基礎詞匯，只要GRE會考到，我們也列在了“24套”中，希望同學們結(jié)合語境理解它們的考法。

因此，基于同學們對于純名詞、基礎單詞的含義以及考法義的不熟悉，我們強烈建議同學們在初期備考的階段背“3000”的同時做“24套”，掌握基礎單詞。只有確保刷過3遍“24套”、每套題目可以在20分鐘之內(nèi)完成且錯誤不超過2個，同學們才能夠保證在GRE填空題中不再有自己不認識的、且“3000”上沒有的基礎單詞。
