什么是Qualify a statement?
qualify 這個(gè)單詞簡(jiǎn)直像一個(gè)惡魔一樣纏繞著的考GRE的同學(xué)們，在填空和閱讀中層出不窮。很多同學(xué)總是不能夠理解這個(gè)單詞，雖然我們?cè)诜鹉_詞匯表中把它翻譯成“通過(guò)添加限定條件進(jìn)行限定”，但是仍然過(guò)于抽象，所以今天我給大家舉幾個(gè)例子，來(lái)解釋什么叫做qualify 。
1. 詞典解讀
qualify在詞典中的解釋為
(1) to reduce from a general to a particular or restricted form
(2) to make less harsh or strict
但總之我么能體現(xiàn)出當(dāng)我們qualify一個(gè)東西后他變的沒(méi)那么強(qiáng)烈了，從更普遍變得更狹窄了。這是什么感覺(jué)呢?我們來(lái)舉兩個(gè)例子大家 就明白了。
2. 例子來(lái)啦
我們看這句話
Taxes on imports are too high.
我們會(huì)發(fā)現(xiàn)這句話說(shuō)的很絕對(duì)，這句話是在告訴我們進(jìn)口稅就是太高了。而實(shí)際情況是這樣的么?是所有的產(chǎn)品稅都高么?所以這樣過(guò)于絕對(duì)的話會(huì)顯得不夠?qū)I(yè)，不夠準(zhǔn)確，我們來(lái)qualify一下。

不要小看這個(gè)oftentimes，加上這個(gè)單詞，我們就完成了對(duì)一個(gè)過(guò)于absolute的論斷進(jìn)行了qualification的過(guò)程。因?yàn)槲覀冎啦⒉皇窃谌魏螘r(shí)候，稅都是高的啦。
