口語(yǔ)環(huán)境中比較常見(jiàn)的一個(gè)短語(yǔ)。主要有以下幾個(gè)意思：
(1). 發(fā)生
在托福官方真題8的Task 3(相當(dāng)于現(xiàn)在的TASK 2)中，學(xué)校決定要在餐廳播放古典音樂(lè)，讓學(xué)生們?cè)谟貌蜁r(shí)能夠放松心情。但是對(duì)話中的女生不同意這個(gè)觀點(diǎn)。因?yàn)樗X(jué)得很多學(xué)生在吃飯的時(shí)候并沒(méi)有選擇放松，而是:
They like to study while they eat, especiallyif they have exams coming up or some assignment they have to get done.
他們喜歡在吃飯的時(shí)候?qū)W習(xí)，當(dāng)他們即將有考試，或者有需要交的作業(yè)的時(shí)候更是如此。
(2). 提到、出現(xiàn)
The word “China” came up frequentlyduring the presidential debates.

這個(gè)短語(yǔ)經(jīng)常用在一個(gè)句子或分句的末尾，表示“諸如此類(lèi)”的意思。需要注意的是，這里面的“諸如此類(lèi)”既可以指一類(lèi)事物(名詞)，也可以指一類(lèi)動(dòng)作(動(dòng)詞)。例如女生說(shuō)到她的公寓不能住了，因?yàn)?

注意在上面的兩個(gè)例句中，or something指代的都是某一種動(dòng)作。像之前說(shuō)的，這個(gè)短語(yǔ)也可以指一類(lèi)事物，比如在托福官方真題16的Task 3(相當(dāng)于現(xiàn)在的TASK 2)里面，學(xué)生建議學(xué)校增加校醫(yī)院里面的醫(yī)生人數(shù)。但是對(duì)話里面的男生并不同意，因?yàn)樾ａt(yī)院里面的病房太少了，即使增加了醫(yī)生也并不會(huì)有什么效果。他說(shuō):
