1) X-factor

You should say:

what and where it is

how often you visit this place

who do you go there with

and explain why this is your favourite location for swimming.

Where I grew up as a child there’s a great place to go swimming. We used to go all the time, especially in the summer months because it was super cool in the water and we could cool down from the heat of the day.

The place is a small bay on the coast in the south of the country. It was really close to my grandparent’s house where I spent the summer months during my childhood. This place was incredibly popular with people – and everyone went there to enjoy the beach, the water and just spend time with their friends and family.

At the weekends it was always busy with young children and families and some would even stay and cook lunch on open fires on the beach after swimming and spending the morning there. It was a great family day out.

We used to jump off an old pier there which jutted out into the bay. The pier was an old wooden structure which was about 3 meters above the water so it was great for diving off into the water. I can remember some really good times there with some of the other local kids who lived there.

I still go there sometimes when I visit my grandparents, just for old time’s sake, to revisit some of those wonderful memories. It’s not just a great place for swimming, it also has a great beach, and a terrific view, especially in the evening when the sun is going down.

It’s definitely one of the most popular places to go swimming, and much better than a swimming pool.

最新5-8月雅思口語Part2話題范文:a house or apartment that you have (recently) visited

You should say:

- Where it was (or is)

- When you visited it

– What it looked like

And explain why you visited it.

Ok then, well the place that I’d like to talk to you about was actually a show home that I went to visit with my parents, which was in a newly developed (off-plan) apartment not far from the CBD. And I suppose it must have been about two or three weeks ago when we went there.

As for why we went there, well it was simply because we’re thinking of buying a flat (an apartment) as an investment. You know for Chinese, this is a very common thing to do, because investing in property is seen as being relatively risk-free. And some friends of ours who had already been there to have a look recommended that we also check it out .So we thought, why not!

Anyway, with regard to what the flat/apartment looked like, well basically, it was really nicely decorated, as you can probably imagine, what with it being a show home and all. For example, the floor was mostly marble, and there was a huge chandelier hanging above the dining table. So yeah, it all looked pretty impressive. I mean, even the wallpaper was nice, you know, it was, um… I’m not quite sure how to best describe it, but you could just tell it was really good quality from the feel and texture of it.

The only downside was the price, because I think it was something like ten grand a square meter, so the whole flat came to about 720K ($720,000), or somewhere thereabouts, which was a bit above our budget unfortunately!

范文

I often visit a café in our school named “Happy Time Café”. It is only a few minutes away from my dormitory. I nearly go there every week or every time I need to surf on Internet. The Internet connection is not so good in my dormitory and every now and then I need to do some search online to finish my report, or book tickets online, or send emails, so the café becomes a good place to go. Sometimes I will go with my friends to have a chat with them. We can also play table games there. We especially like card games.

As to the reason I like the café, well, it provides great convenience to me. And the food in the café is also excellent. Besides all kinds of coffee, it also offers a wide range of food like pizza, steak, donuts and some other snacks. And since it mainly faces to students, the price is good, too. It is often 30% cheaper than other café in the downtown. So it enables us students to spend more time there. And it also offers a great place for us to bond with each other. Nowadays we are all busy with our own business, so it’s really nice to have a chat with my friends now and then.

最新5-8月雅思口語Part2話題范文:café that you have been to

You should say

- where it is

- why you went there

- what you ate or drank

- and explain why you liked or disliked the café.

I’m going to describe a café that I go to maybe once a week. It’s just down the road from where I live, near Manchester, so it’s really convenient for me to walk down there for a coffee or a bite to eat, and to use the wifi.

The last time I went to this local café was on Friday afternoon. I was trying to do some work at home, but I found myself getting distracted by little jobs around the house. So I decided to have a change of scenery; I put my laptop in its bag and made the short walk to the café, where I spent the next few hours getting all of my work done. With a nice cup of coffee and just the right level of background noise, I found it much easier to concentrate.

Over the course of the afternoon, I drank two cups of coffee and a glass or two of water. The café owner takes a lot of pride in making the best ‘flat white’ coffee in the area, so that’s what I tend to drink. If I remember correctly, the second coffee that I ordered was a decaf, because I try to avoid drinking too much caffeine in the afternoon. I didn’t have anything to eat on that occasion, but I do sometimes have one of the home-made cakes that they sell.

There are a few reasons why I like going to my local café. I suppose the main reasons are the coffee, the free wifi and the friendly staff. However, on Friday I also managed to sit at my favourite table near one of the windows, and the café wasn’t very busy. So the atmosphere and noise level were just right, and I was able to focus on my work without distractions for most of the afternoon.
