I remember once, a few years ago it was, when I had a problem with my washing machine. It was quite an old machine but it had always worked very well and was effective at washing clothes, sheets and such like.
Anyway, one day when I was using it, I noticed some water leaking out from underneath the machine. It was maybe about half-way through the washing cycle when this happened. I started to mop up the water and thought it maybe wasn’t anything serious – but a few minutes later a wave of water appeared across the floor of the laundry room, it was as if I’d just opened the door on the machine while it was still full of water.
I couldn’t mop up the water fast enough. I had to turn the machine off, and there was still more water inside it. So, the machine stopped and I continued trying to mop up the water, eventually managing to get the floor dry.
I’m not a technical person at all, so I called my brother who is quite good at things like that and he came round later in the afternoon to have a look at it. It only took him about 5 minutes to find the problem – apparently one of the water hoses at the back of the machine had come loose and that was why the water had been pouring out from under the machine instead of draining away through the hose.
He managed to reconnect it again and then we tested the washing machine by filling it with a little water and some clothes to make sure that it would operate again normally. Thankfully it did … so it was quite a simple problem to fix, but it was very inconvenient at the time. I’m happy to say that it’s been working fine ever since then – just like it used to.
Ok, every now and then I have to go to a mechanic to repair some electronic item. Here I'd like to talk about an Apple phone which was recently broken accidentally. It is grey in colour, having 128 Gigabytes of storage memory of model iPhone 7. I have been using this phone for 6 months until last week it was in a mint condition.
However, unfortunately, when I was taking bath, it fell down in a bath tube as I had just talked to my friend a few minutes ago and kept it nearby only. I tried to search out in bath tube, but it took me 2-3 minutes as water was totally soapy. It was the icing on the cake when I picked it up, due to smooth and wet palm it fell down on the edge of wall and door, which cause to broke the display. Then I finished the bath and immediately made a beeline to the Apple Store.
I explain all that had happened with the phone to a technician, but when he said about repair cost I felt like a highway robbery, you know, he asked for 500 USD to replace the new display. Because of expensive charges, I came out from the Apple Store and looked for any local mechanic on the internet. Finally, I found one and I headed toward his shop. He agreed to repair the display by changing it but no warrant in almost half price. I also agreed because I had no option for it.
Overall, I felt worried initially when I went to the Apple Store, but later on, I felt relaxed and peaceful when it successfully repaired at a cheaper price and mobile was also looked as new phone.

Cellular phones have had a major impact on our lives and the way that we perform everyday tasks. Many of these changes are apparent, while others we may not even be aware of.
Cell phones have brought a whole new meaning to the term multitasking. Twenty years ago, it was not possible to talk to the office while you were at the grocery store picking up some necessary items. You could never have had a three-way business conference while you were fixing dinner or been able to deal with a business client from home while caring for a sick child. Cell phones have enabled us to do various tasks all at the same time.
Cell phones have also enabled families to keep in closer touch with each other. Children can contact you if they have missed their ride form soccer practice and your spouse can call while he is stuck in traffic to let you know that he is going to be late for supper. Teenagers are able to call to ask permission to go somewhere, and with GPS features that are now available on some cell phones, you are able to check to make sure that they are where they are supposed to be.
Many of these advantages we do not even notice. Have you ever arrived at the grocery store and realized that you have forgotten your grocery list? The first thing you would probably do is to call home and have one of your children read the list off to you. In the same situation in past years, you may have forgotten things or have had to drive all the way back home to get it. If your car breaks down, you automatically call for help instead of having to walk to find a pay phone. Cell phones have certainly made our lives much more convenient.
Cell phones have also changed the way that people interact with each other. When we call someone, we are actually calling the person and not a place. This enables us to be more spontaneous when making plans as you rarely get a busy signal and unlike a land line telephone, someone is always home. Cell phones also enable us to call if we are going to be late for an appointment, although this has led to cell phone users running late more often than those who do not have cell phones. These users seem to have adopted the attitude that appointment times are not concrete and use their cell phones to renegotiate their arrival time.
What is the impact of cellphones?
Like most technologies, cellphones surely have made a place in our day to day lives. With the coming of smart phones, people now use it for almost everything. Gone are the days when people bought cameras. The only people who buy cameras nowadays are either the camera lovers or professional photographers. So, the general public has now become a photographer. People carry phones everywhere because they need the next most important thing, internet. Internet allows people to communicate and do so much more. I think cell phones have in a way changed the way people live their lives.
What do you think about people who speak loudly on cellphone in public places?
Be it public place or anywhere, speaking loudly on phone, I believe is quite unethical. When one speaks loudly on phone, firstly it disturbs the other person on phone. The disadvantage with phones has been that one cannot see the expression of other when talking, so speaking loudly could be taken any ways. Apart from the person on the other end, it also creates nuisance for the people around.
Do young people use cellphones the same way old people do?
I think definitely not. But for that matter, in my opinion it is not just about old and young, it is also about two different individuals. I have seen older people loving whatsapp and facebook and using it extensively. And even some young, who prefer not using them. But, if we take it in a more general way, young people often click photos and listen to music or probably play games on the phone. However, older people are more fond of chatting with their peers.
Are cell phones important to you?
Well being the part of the 21st century, yes cell phones are important for me. I need it to do my work and communicate with people. But, certainly not the smart phones have much importance in my life. I think any phone that allows me to communicate well with others, is important.
