大學(xué)英語六級作文篇1
My dormitory room is on the second floor. It is small and crowded. The dark green walls andthe dirty white ceiling make the room seem dark, and thus even smaller than it is. As you walkinto the room, you are stopped short by my bed which fills half of the room. The two largewindows over the bed are hidden by heavy dark gold drapes. Against the wall on your left, pushed into a corner behind the head of the bed, is a large bookcase which is crammed withpapers , books, and knick-knacks, Wedged in between the bookcase and the wall opposite thebed is a small grey metal desk. It has a brown wooden chair which seems to fill the left end ofthe room. Stuffed under the desk is a wooden wastepaper bas ket over — flowing with paperand debris. The wall above the bookcase and desk is completely taken up with two smallposters. On the right hand of the room is a nar row closet with clothes, shoes, hats, tennisracquets, and boxes bulging out of its sliding doors. Everytime I walk out of the door, I think, "Now I know what it is like to live in a closet. "

大學(xué)英語六級作文篇2
With the rapid development of society, almost everyone wants to be educated. However, manypeople hold an erroneous view towards education. They think , probably most parents do, thatthrough education, they will, or their children will, turn out to be either prominent scholars orrich merchants. To them, education suggests merely fame or riches.
The aim of education, in my understanding, is set upon deeper and more important mentalaccomplishments and moral culture. When we study at school or at the university, we arecertainly aiming at a profound learning of various subjects, for that is one of the essentialthings and a fundamental indispensable for building up our future career. Equally importantis the moral education which we must receive either at school or at the university, for buildingour character.
On the other hand, education does not simply mean "going to school." We cannot considerourselves well-educated and superior just because we are the fortunate ones who can gosomewhere to study, thus looking down upon those who cannot get such golden chances asours. It is a truth univer sally known that that a doctor is different from a black smith is notbecause the former has received higher education and the latter has not.
To conclude my essay, I would like to quote an old saying "Learn whatever it may be, whenever you can, and whenever you will, " and this, I think , is the true meaning of education.

Some People Like to Buy Books to Read, Other People Like to Borrow Books FromLibraries or From Other People. Which Do You Prefer?
許多人喜歡買書看,還有人喜歡借書看。你呢?
Some People Like to Buy Books to Read, Other People Like to Borrow Books From Libraries orFrom Other People. Which Do You Prefer?
I like reading books. I not only buy books but also borrow books from libraries and from otherpeople. Over the years, this has become a habit. T his habit of mine is built upon the famoussaying "Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed anddigested."
Every time I go to the book store, I will buy some books like dictionaries, reference bookswhich are of pragmatic use and classical literary works which are to be chewed and digested. Unlike some people who buy books just for the purpose of filling their shelves and s howingothers how learned they are, my purpose is simple and practical — reading. Moreover, the booksI want to keep are usually too expensive and I can afford only a few volumes.
From libraries I borrow books that are to be swallowed, because, on the one hand, library booksare not allowed to keep a long time; and on the other hand, the library is a sea of books and Ithink I have to do speed-reading, that is, to swallow as many as I can.
I also borrow books from friends, especially new ar rivals. I just want to have a taste. If thetaste is good, then I will go and buy them to add to my store. If not, well, just for a taste.
In short, I don't mind wher e I can get books, but books are always my source of knowledgeand wisdom.

Studying the English Language in an English-Speaking Country is the Best but Not theOnly Way to Learn the Language. Do you Agree or Disagree with This Statement?
你是否同意學(xué)習(xí)英語在說英語的國家,但這也不是學(xué)英語的辦法這種觀點(diǎn)?
Studying the English Language in an English-Speaking Country is the Best but Not the OnlyWay to Learn the Language . Do you Agree or Disagree with This Statement?
Learning English in an English-speaking count ry has many advantages. It is, therefore, a goodidea to learn English in Britain or America. However, I believe it is not the only way to learn thelanguage .
To begin with, most students in non-English-speaking countries learn English in high schools oruniversities. Although their spoken English is not usually of a very high standard, theirknowledge of grammar is often quite advanced. This is certainly useful when later they cometo an Englishspeaking country to perfect the language.
However, it is obviously advantageous to learn English in English-speaking countries where, every day, students will have ample chance to practise listening and speaking. In addition , students can experience the foreign culture, which greatly helps understand the language. This is especially true ifthey choose to live with an English or American family. Still, sincestudents are taught by native speakers, their reading and writing skills will improve as well .
As every coin has two sides, learning English at home also proves effective. At home studentswill have less stress and fewer problems in accommodation, expensive tuition and living costs .
In conclusion, it is preferable to study English in an English-speaking country, but areasonable level of English can be achieved at home, if a student is gifted and dedicated tostudy.

Some Students Think Studying in a University is Worth-while Only Because They CanGet a Degree. Do You Agree or Disagree with This Statement?
許多人認(rèn)為上大學(xué)是非常值得的,因?yàn)榭梢垣@得學(xué)位,你是否同意這種觀點(diǎn)?
Some Students Think Studying in a University is Worth-while Only Because They Can Get aDegree. Do You Agree or Disagree with This Statement?
The surprising fact that I discovered during my first year at the university was that quite a bignumber of students were solely motivated by the academic degree they would obtain upongraduation. Certainly, I would not go anywhere near so far as to doubt the social and economicvalue that a degree would bring to students in future. However, I deem it too nar row forstudents to maintain this kind of attitude towards their studies.
In my mind, university life contain s many enjoyable things, such as new ideas, good booksand brilliant people. And the pursuit of new ideas, the reading of good books and the camp usf riends hip r equire a student's complete devotion but will shine in his whole life.
Probably this tendency is rooted in the vocation-oriented and the career-oriented motivation. If a student discovers his vocation, he finds a life-time pleas ure in pursuing his profession. Bycontrast, a career-oriented student tends to take the academic certificate as an only means topreferment.
In conclusion, the university provides students with many golden opportunities, getting adegree being one of them. The challenge of new ideas, the leisure to read and the chance tomeet people are equally important. Anyway, a broad mind adds so much to the value of adegree.
大學(xué)英語六級作文篇6
Some small things are collected delibe rately in the home in an attempt to avoid waste. Amongthese I would list string and brown paper, kept by thrifty people when a parcel has beenopened, to save buying these two requisites. However, collecting as a serious hobby is quitedifferent and has many advantages.
Firstly, it provides relaxation for leisure hours, just as looking at one's treasure is always apleasure. One does not have to go outside for amusement, since the collection is housed athome. Whatever it consists of, stamps, records, pictures, model cars, stuffed birds, toy animals, there is always something to do in connection with it, from finding the right place for the latestaddition to verifying facts in reference books. Consequently, one's knowledge expands.
Secondly, this hobby educates one not only in the chosen subject, but also in general matterswhich have some bearing on it, for instance, to meet like-minded collectors, to get advice, tocompare notes, to show off the latest find, and so on. In this way, one's circle of friends grows.
Thirdly, the hobby soon leads to travel, perhaps to a meeting in another town, possibly a tripabroad in search of rare specimen (for collectors are not confined to one country). Over theyears one may well become an authority on one's hobby and will very probably be asked togive informal talks to little gatherings and then, if successful, to larger audience. In so doingself-confidence grows, first from mastering a subject, then from being able to talk about it.
In conclusion, collecting, by occupying spare time so constructively, makes a personcontented, with no time for boredom.
